The Sales Compensation Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and administering sales incentive programs to drive business outcomes. They will work closely with Sales, Finance, HR, and other business leaders to design effective compensation plans, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and improve processes for accuracy and efficiency. This role also involves preparing and validating commission data, managing payouts, and providing key insights on compensation and performance.

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: 

  • Developing, managing, and administering sales incentive programs for Sales and Client Success organizations.

  • Partnering with Sales, Finance, HR, and other business leaders to design incentive plans that drive business outcomes. 

  • Reviewing and recommending job levels and total compensation packages for new hires, promotions, and the annual review process. 

  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to commissions and payouts. 

  • Recommending improvements to compensation processes to ensure accurate, timely processing of monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual commission payouts. 

  • Preparing and validating monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual commissions data, including system imports and payment reconciliation. 

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

YOU’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES IF YOU HAVE: 

  • 5+ years of experience in sales compensation, incentive compensation, or a related field (such as sales operations, finance, or human resources).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large sets of data

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work cross-functionally

  • Strong understanding of sales processes, sales roles, and how incentive programs impact performance

  • Knowledge of leading practices to enable design improvements to sales incentive programs

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations related to compensation and commissions

  • Proficiency in MS Suite with advanced skills in Excel

  • Proficiency in sales performance and compensation tools, such as Salesforce and Xactly, preferred

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

 

 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PREFERRED:

  • Certifications in compensation or incentive design (e.g., Certified Compensation Professional (CCP))

 

 

IN OFFICE REQUIREMENT:

Relias values collaboration and wants to ensure that our team members have opportuniites to work with their managers regularly for professional development opportunities.  This role requires that you live in the state of North Carolina, within a commutable distance to our office.  You would be expected to work in our Morrisville, NC Headquarters approximately 30 of the days/quarter (a couple of days per week).
