We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering to lead and manage multiple teams responsible for the full stack development, deployment, and maintenance of our digital learning platform. As a technical leader, you will guide our engineering teams in creating robust software solutions that support and enhance our digital learning offerings. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of overseeing full stack projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with business objectives and drive technological advancements, ensuring our platform remains at the forefront of the digital learning industry.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Technology Strategy: Staying up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
- Functional Leadership: Providing leadership and managerial direction for engineering activities to ensure business objectives are achieved.
- Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborating with product management, sales, marketing, and other departments to ensure alignment and support for engineering initiatives.
- Roadmap Development: Creating and maintaining an engineering roadmap that supports product and business objectives.
- Staff Development: Creatting and curating career development programs for the team and continuously evaluates and improves team members' skills and performance, seeking constant alignment with organizational readiness metrics.
- Workflow Optimization: Continuously improving engineering processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Product Innovation: Fostering a culture of innovation within the engineering team to develop cutting-edge products.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicating engineering plans, progress, and challenges to stakeholders, including executives and clients. Owning, defining, auditing and communicating KPIs and Engineering Metrics across the entire organization.
- Research and Development: Driving R&D efforts to explore new technologies and product improvements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that engineering activities comply with industry regulations and standards.
- Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
- Budget Management: Managing the engineering budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Tool Implementation: Evaluating and implementing tools and technologies that streamline engineering operations.
- Performance Management: Conducting performance reviews, providing feedback, and managing career development for engineering staff.
- Talent Acquisition: Recruiting, onboarding, and retaining top engineering talent.
YOU’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES IF YOU HAVE:

12+ years of software development experience

GCP Certification and AZ204 Certification

Must obtain within 30 days of employment

10+ year's experience in developing scalable web applications and architectural standards

7+ years building and managing software engineering and/or QA teams

Experience in leading large-scale platform modernization of B2B and B2C SaaS applications.

3+ years' experience with application development on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Bachelor’s degree

Strong technology experience in building multi-cloud SaaS applications.

Expansive knowledge of modern system design, service-oriented architecture, low-code/no-code architecture, microservices, responsive application design, cloud-native SaaS product development, highly scalable design, and mobile platforms.

Advanced abilities in leading large-scale platform modernization of B2B and B2C SaaS applications.

Ability to drive concepts to implementation through technology leadership, experience and innovation.

Exceptional mentoring and leadership skills.

Excels at empowering the team to challenge themselves across product definition, architecture, development execution, and DevOps.

Exceptional use of Agile methodologies and other software development best practices, tools, and development processes to optimize product engineering throughput and quality.

Ability to drive a high level of employee engagement by effectively communicating the company’s strategy, product vision, and organizational performance.

Skilled agile leader capable of conveying, translating, and interpreting business and engineering vision in and outwards across the company.
IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU HAVE:
- 4+ years working with SaaS-based, cloud-native commercially sold products
- Advanced Professional Cloud certifications

IN OFFICE REQUIREMENT:
Relias values collaboration and wants to ensure that our team members have opportunities to work with their teams regularly for professional development opportunities. Our flexible hybrid work environment requires that you live in the state of North Carolina, within a commutable distance to our office (~1-hour commute). You would be expected to work in our Morrisville, NC Headquarters approximately 30/40 days/quarter.
