Location: London, LND, GB, SW1V 2SA

year: 2018

Company: The Random House Group Limited

Requisition ID: 14069

Random House Books, part of Cornerstone Publishing, has a vacancy for a Senior Commissioning Editor to join our close-knit team. Our remit is a wide range of quality non-fiction, from business and economics and popular psychology to history and biography. The business and economics element of the list boasts such well-known and highly regarded authors as Jim Collins (Good to Great and Great by Choice) and Kate Raworth (Doughnut Economics). More generally, the imprint covers books on topics such as language, history, and popular culture, with authors who include John Cleese, Dan Cruickshank, and Michael Palin.

As Senior Commissioning Editor you will be responsible for commissioning, overseeing and championing titles internally and externally as they pass through the publishing process.  You will liaise with Sales, Marketing and Publicity on a regular basis and work closely with authors, freelancers and designers to produce books of the highest possible standard.

You will have sound commissioning experience and excellent editing skills, along with a strong sense of the readership you are publishing for and effective ways of engaging with them. Previous direct experience of commissioning in these areas – in particular, business books – would be helpful though not absolutely essential. You will be self-motivated and be able to work well under pressure without compromising quality. Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects are essential.

This is a fantastic opportunity to commission a wide range of non-fiction as we expand and build on our impressive list.

Please send a CV and cover letter by 25th February.
