Recruitment Coordinator

PRH UK

Do you enjoy coordinating, scheduling, organising – making things happen? We’re looking for a Recruitment Coordinator to join our team and help us hire talent inclusively.

You don’t need existing experience in the publishing industry or in recruitment. We're interested in your ambition to support the team, ensuring we offer a great experience for both candidates and hiring managers.

About Penguin

We’re the UK’s largest publisher; made up of some 2,000 people and publishing over 1,500 books each year. Our doors are open to all kinds of talent. In a constantly evolving industry, we work hard to stretch the definition of the word publisher. Here, you’ll work with a breadth of talent who all play their part to make each of our books a success. Together, we make books for everyone because a book can change anyone.

The Role

One of the core goals for our inclusion strategy is to ensure that our workforce is representative of society. Our recruitment team of eight are committed to achieving this goal, and who and how we hire is very important. The team, led by our Head of Recruitment, is made up of five recruiters, our Employer Brand Manager and our Programmes and Outreach Advisor. As Coordinator, you’ll provide support to all team members to varying degrees, in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing applications and shortlisting candidates for review by a Recruitment Partner
  • Scheduling and inviting candidates to interview
  • Responding to queries, and providing feedback to candidates
  • Supporting the Recruitment Partners and successfully juggling the recruitment admin workload
  • Making sure systems and trackers are up to date
  • Monitoring and responding to queries in the careers inbox and social channels
  • Creating content for our social channels, e.g. PRHCareers Twitter/X
  • Collaborating with the recruitment team, sharing ideas, and providing cover where necessary
  • Liaising with hiring managers and other stakeholders in a clear and efficient manner, for example regarding interview availability and setup details
  • Providing occasional support on our outreach work and programmes such as The Scheme, Summer Internships, and careers events

What you’ll bring

  • Some co-ordination/administrative experience is preferred
  • Proven organisational skills
  • Great written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to 'manage upwards'
  • Proactive and solution-orientated approach
  • Ability to work at pace, balancing multiple tasks and timelines, whilst paying attention to the detail
  • Curiosity to learn about teams across the business, and our inclusive hiring approach
  • Interest in recruitment/HR/talent
