Production Controller (Cornerstone)

PRH UK

We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Controller to join our Cornerstone Production team on a permanent basis.

About Cornerstone

Cornerstone publish a broad range of titles across fiction and non-fiction, commercial and literary, and are home to an exciting array of authors including Taylor Jenkins-Reid, Robert Harris, Stormzy, Hafsa Zayyan, James Patterson, Richard Powers and Georgette Heyer.

The role

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering front list titles across formats for hardback, paperback, some 4c printing and audio. You’ll be passionate about producing high quality books across both fiction and non-fiction.

You’ll work closely and collaboratively with internal teams across Editorial, Design, Sales, Inventory, Finance as well as external suppliers, to identify and implement solutions for manufacturing, costing, and scheduling challenges.

This role offers a chance to develop a wide range of production skills. It would equally suit a seasoned assistant looking to step up to controller, or a controller looking for a fresh challenge or to broaden their skillset.

What you will bring:

Essential criteria:

  • You’ll have good experience of mono book production, as well as a range of formats and pre-press and digital workflows.

  • You’ll have excellent attention to detail and will be able to demonstrate a calm, positive and flexible approach to your work – even when you’re under pressure.

  • You’ll be a team player but equally happy to work independently on your own initiative.

  • You’re used to managing a busy workload with a track record of successfully delivering to deadlines while meeting the expectations of multiple stakeholders.

Preferred criteria:

  • Colour production experience would be an advantage, but not essential.

Application instructions

Please apply with your CV and cover letter outlining why you are the right candidate for the role by 11:59pm on Sunday 26th January.

  • Please ensure you include a cover letter, as it is a crucial part of our assessment process. The cover letter offers an opportunity to show how your experience and interests align with the role requirements. Typically, we expect the cover letter to be no more than one or two pages in length.

  • Please note we are looking for someone to join the team as soon as possible, but we are also happy to accommodate a reasonable notice period for the right candidate.

  • We anticipate a two-stage interview process which will include a virtual first-stage interview and in-person second stage interview. We are happy to discuss this further with you throughout the recruitment process.

Salary

Circa £30,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
