Press Officer, Audio (12-month FTC)
We have an exciting opportunity to join our innovative and ground-breaking Audio Marketing & Publicity team on a 12-month maternity cover contract as Press Officer. Please note that this role is referred to as a Campaigns Executive internally.
About the Audio team
At Penguin Random House Audio, the UK’s leading audiobook publisher, we are dedicated to making the very best audiobooks. Working with exceptional acting talent, producers and studios, we publish award-winning and bestselling audiobooks such as Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club series, Bernardine Evaristo’s Booker-winning Girl, Woman, Other, Prince Harry’s Spare and Dr Julie Smith’s Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?
The role
We’re looking for a Press Officer who is eager to join an award-winning team in the fastest-growing segment of publishing. You’ll have experience developing inspiring and highly effective publicity campaigns that deliver results. With a love of all things audio, you’ll be brimming with ideas to reach new and existing listeners.
Key responsibilities:
- Planning, implementing, and analysing standout audio campaigns to reach selected audiences and drive sales.
- Working collaboratively with the PRH Audio M&P and Editorial teams to identify authors and narrators who could excite media.
- Drafting press materials; creating targeted mailings lists; placing features, interviews and reviews across broadcast, print and online media in collaboration with our PR agency.
- Leading the Audio marketing and publicity relationship with selected publishing houses at Penguin Random House, integrating audio into multi-format campaigns for our biggest books.
- Identifying opportunities to promote audiobooks in collaboration with influencers.
- Developing content ideas for authors and narrators in the recording studio.
- Briefing media agencies, booking small budget marketing campaigns, monitoring results, and reporting post-campaign.
What you’ll bring
You do not need experience in marketing to be considered for this role. It goes without saying you’ll have a passion for audio, but you certainly don’t need to have worked in audiobooks or publishing before. Whoever you are, we want someone ready for an exciting new challenge.
Essential criteria:
- Experience working with authors or talent and their agents
- Experience pitching to press – whether broadsheet, broadcast or online media
- Knowledge of the media landscape
- Confidence in your approach and ability to represent the Audio team in inter-departmental meetings
- Engaged with social media, TikTok, Instagram etc. with awareness of key influencers and current trends
- Experience of running your own campaigns, bringing bags of enthusiasm and ideas to each one
- Excellent organisational, attention to detail and prioritisation skills, juggling multiple projects and campaigns at once
- Excellent written communication
