Online Key Account Manager (Children's)

PRH UK

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Key Account Manager to join the Online Sales team at Penguin Random House, working with our Penguin Children’s team.

The Online Sales team is a core part of the Penguin Random House Group Sales department. Working with all of our publishing houses across a diverse range of publishing, we maximise sales of our titles through all online retail channels, both at home and internationally. We are looking for an Online Key Account Manager to join us on a permanent basis.

As Online Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for growing physical and digital sales, through online platforms including Amazon, Apple and Spotify. You will drive revenue through strong merchandising placement, strategic use of promotions and enhanced discoverability on retailer platforms for books across all formats: print, ebook and audio.

This exciting role will be the primary online ambassador for the Penguin children’s (PRHC) business, responsible for some of the most recognised and well-loved brands in children’s publishing: Ladybird, Puffin and Penguin. You will work alongside the publishing teams across editorial, publicity and marketing to deliver the very best results for our books and authors. You will get to work on some of the biggest names in children’s publishing, including Rick Riordan, Tom Fletcher, Karen M. McManus and Bluey.

This role will suit someone who is commercially minded, with a keen interest in the children’s publishing and online retail, and who is passionate about connecting books and consumers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work effectively with online retailers to provide compelling sales information on key titles and to plan joined up pricing and marketing activity.
  • Proactively build successful relationships with internal stakeholders from different teams throughout the business.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Online Sales team to continually learn and adapt new strategies to maximise sales online.
  • Collaborate closely with publishing teams, acting as a champion for best practice in the online world, to maximise discovery and sales of all titles.
  • Attend publishing team meetings, share regular sales reporting and commercial insights to inform publishing strategy.
  • Plan digital and print online retail price promotions and work with marketing teams to maximise their effectiveness.
  • Liaise with the Sales Operations team to help ensure that your titles have optimal positioning on site, removing any friction to purchase.

 What you’ll bring:

  • A proactive, inquisitive and analytical mind, with experience in using data analysis tools to track performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong commercial awareness and to be motivated by sales success.
  • Experience operating as a positive, engaged and influential team player.
  • Strong organisational skills and a proven ability to juggle a varied workload.
  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrable confidence in sharing information and insights with stakeholders at all levels.

Essential criteria:

  • Experience in driving sales growth through online platforms.
  • Genuine interest and passion for Children’s books and sales; you will be an advocate for the children’s division within the wider UK and international sales structure.
