We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Identity & Access Manager to join our dynamic Service Delivery team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the strategies, processes, and tools that manage our digital identities and control access to our diverse systems and resources.

Reporting into our Head of Service Management and supporting a team of 3 Engineers, you will be in a critical management role to a friendly and welcoming team that enables the organisation to do their best work.

The role

You'll be at the forefront of provisioning user access and managing the user account lifecycle across both cloud and on-premise environments. As the strategic lead for our IDAM function, you will collaborate with Technology and Business stakeholders to guide and influence IDAM-related decisions, ensuring robust governance as we innovate and evolve our services.

 Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the Identity & Access Management (IDAM) strategy in line with Penguin’s Technology and Security goals.

  • Identify and evaluate new IDAM technologies to boost security and efficiency.

  • Establish and enforce IDAM policies to ensure compliance with regulations and internal standards.

  • Oversee user identity lifecycle management, including provisioning, de-provisioning, and changes.

  • Manage access control to ensure users have appropriate system and data access based on their roles.

  • Administer IDAM solutions like directory services, SSO, MFA, and PAM.

  • Ensure IDAM systems integrate smoothly with other technology and business systems.

  • Lead and mentor a team of IDAM Engineers, fostering effective performance.

  • Collaborate with Technology teams, business functions, and external partners for cohesive IDAM practices.

  • Develop metrics to measure IDAM effectiveness and present regular reports to senior management.

  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation in the IDAM domain.

  • Stay updated with industry trends to continuously enhance our IDAM capabilities.

  • Manage relationships with IDAM vendors to ensure their products meet our needs.

  • Provide input on the procurement and implementation of IDAM tools and technologies.

What you’ll bring:

  • Knowledge of Service Management Tools (ServiceNow) and processes like Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Fulfilment.

  • Proficiency with IDAM tools and technologies such as Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP, and Okta.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team of IDAM Engineers, with strong mentoring and coaching skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders and presenting IDAM strategies to senior management.

  • Experience with SSO, MFA, and PAM solutions.

  • Familiarity with access control models like RBAC, ABAC, and PBAC.

  • Experience integrating IDAM solutions with enterprise systems (e.g., HR, ERP, CRM).

  • Strong understanding of security protocols such as SAML and OAuth.

Our approach to hybrid working:

While our offices are places for you to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, having flexibility about where you work is just as important for doing your best work and for your wellbeing. So, we don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to how we work in different teams across Penguin Random House UK.

This is a hybrid role, based in our offices in London with occasional travel to our Colchester office. We are happy to discuss hybrid working arrangements with you during your recruitment process.
