Penguin Random House is looking for Front-End Engineer to join the Technology team to be based at our London office.

 

You will be a key development role within the organisation and will join us during the implementation stage of Penguin Random House’s digital portfolio. Working as part of our Online team this role will be responsible for building and maintaining high quality and maintainable code that is well performing, secure and follows all coding standards.

 

Your Key Responsibilities & Duties required for this role:

  • To build shippable software following Engineering standards in place.
  • Develop, build and maintain all aspects of the Adobe AEM platform front end code.
  • Review code of other developers to ensure the overall code quality and to encourage a collaborative development environment.

 

General:

  • Keep up to date with the latest technologies and methodologies to ensure Penguin Random House stays ahead of the game.
  • Ensure the code delivered is on time and is of the required quality.
  • Working with other developers across the entire technology real estate.
  • Ensure a globally robust and highly scalable approach to development to support our growing number of global users and services.

You will also need:

  • Solid experience of developing online or multi-channel transactional applications.
  • Solid experience in required technologies and concepts including:
  • Commercial experience of ECMAScript 6 JS and Babel.
  • Experience in both using and maintaining client side build tools & pre-processors e.g. Gulp, Grunt.
  • Commercial experience in both CSS3 and SCSS
  • Experience in integrating/consuming Web Services and Rest API’s using JavaScript
  • Understanding of accessibility and how it applies to your markup.
  • Experience with cross browser/device development.
  • Understanding of code performance and how this can affect a websites overall loading
  • Commercial experience developing for AEM (clientlibs, HTL/sightly, dialogs).
  • Experience using source control systems e.g. GIT, SVN
  • Experience of responsive development and progressive enhancement.
  • Scrum experience of working within a continuous and iterative delivery cycle.

 

Nice to have skills:

  • Experience in the configuration and deployment of Java applications.
  • Experience in Amazon services.
  • Test automation experience.
  • Experience developing using other languages e.g. PHP, Python, JAVA
  • Experience using Adobe marketing cloud service e.g. Target, Analytics
  • Experience developing for Wordpress
