Do you have a passion for design and children’s books? Are you looking to develop into a creative publishing designer?

We have an opportunity for a creative, enthusiastic and organised individual to assist our Picture Books & Partnerships design team.

Our designers look after some of the very best authors, illustrators and classic brands in children’s publishing who include, amongst a host of others, Eric Carle, Helen Oxenbury, Allan Ahlberg, Shirley Hughes, Ed Vere, Sophy Henn, and our fantastic partnership with the V&A.

As Design Assistant you’ll assist a number of designers across the team with design and admin support, as well as working on your own projects when appropriate.

Day-to-day you’ll be responsible for a range of tasks – from producing mock-ups and updating brand sheets – to creatively designing to set styles, including corrections and adapting previously published (backlist) books into fresh new formats.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for children's book design to join our busy team.  This is a fast-paced role, so you’ll need to be efficient, adaptable and a strong, clear communicator.

This is an entry level position but you should be able to demonstrate a keen design eye, good typographic skills and creative flair. You’ll be a fluent user of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, with a working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Previous experience of working in a design studio would be beneficial.

So, can you picture it?

Please apply no later than Friday 25th August with a PDF that showcases three examples of your work that you’re most proud of, along with a CV and cover letter that gives us an insight into your passion for design and also to you as an individual.
