The Penguin Random House Children’s copy-editorial team are looking for an Assistant Editorial Manager to join them on a temporary basis to cover a period of secondment from 17th March to 17th July 2020.

 

This position will manage the copy-editing and proofreading process, overseeing projects from manuscript to printed book. You'll have responsibility for a significant and designated list of leading Children's titles, and will work to ensure that the highest editorial standards are met on schedule and within budget. Alongside this, you will also manage freelance copy-editors and proofreaders.

 

The ideal candidate for this role will have a good knowledge of all aspects of book production. You'll be confident when dealing with authors, commissioning editors and other colleagues, and will of course have proven experience of copy-editing and proofreading.

 

Your key responsibilities may also involve:

 

  • Working with the commissioning editors, designers, production teams and freelancers to implement schedules to help deliver the various publishing programmes
  • Participating in pre-production progress meetings, updating and chasing progress with key stakeholders
  • Creating and maintaining style sheets for brands, authors and series
  • Proofreading and checking revised proofs of titles at layout and proof stages
  • Checking all copyright/imprint information is correct and guiding others to do so
  • Checking illustrative matter, jackets and covers are accurate

 

This role is offered on a full-time basis, however, we are happy to be flexible if required for the right person.
