Warehouse Team Leader, Colchester

We are recruiting a Warehouse Team Leader to join our Warehouse Operations team on a permanent basis at our Distribution site in Frating, Colchester.


As Warehouse Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for the day to day running of an operational team and will ensure the timely and accurate provision of customer orders on behalf of Penguin Random House UK and our 3rd party client publishers. Working with teams across the distribution centre, you’ll carry out agreed tasks and achieve targets through the effective management of the team, systems and processes.


Your main responsibilities will involve:


  • Planning and prioritising daily and weekly tasks, activities and processes, distributing workload and ensuring that all employees have sufficient tools and resources in order to meet daily team targets and requirements.
  • Manage a team on a daily and weekly basis, including planning the labour resources, setting goals and targets, organising required skills and motivating the team to ensure that it is operating at its maximum performance. 
  • Ensuring that all site health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to in order to maintain a safe working environment for all staff  
  • Engage and motivate all members of the Warehouse Team through regular team briefings, group and individual meetings, and manage daily handovers to next shift Warehouse Team Leader and Duty Managers.


To be successful in this role you will have strong, proven experience of managing and developing a team of people and will be a confident leader. You’ll have good working knowledge and understanding of Production/Material Control and Supply Chain processes alongside the ability to work cross-functionally.


You’ll be self-motivated, have excellent leadership and people management skills and will have an organised and dedicated approach to your work. Strong communication both verbally and written will be essential, along with being computer literate with experience of MS Office programmes.

Salary: £21,000 - £29,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
