We have a brand new opportunity for a Data Specialist to join our Technology team on an 18 month fixed term contract (until end of June 2020), supporting a large transformation programme. This role can be based at either our Frating (Colchester) site OR our London sites.

 

Working with the Data & Environments Management Team the SQL Data Specialist will play a key role in delivering new and upgraded systems. Your responsibilities will include capacity planning, product lifecycles, platform optimisation, development and documentation. You’ll also be a subject matter expert for the Change and Major Incident processes and an escalation point for other team members to ensure that there is full cover of the data portfolio.

 

The ability to build technical relationships with appropriate 3rd parties and working across various internal teams to ensure that systems are resilient, secure and recoverable will be crucial. Due to the highly technical nature of the role, a high level of attention to detail and the ability to develop and follow processes to ensure consistent and repeatable outcomes is essential.

 

To be successful in this role you’ll be customer service focused and results orientated in your approach. A good familiarity with and preferably an in-depth technical knowledge of Windows server platforms and Microsoft SQL will be essential. You’ll also have working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers.

 

This role will primarily be focused on MS SQL Server however experience of any of the following would be desirable: MySQL, IBM Netezza, Remote Data Services for AWS, Linux, BASH scripting, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS. Understanding of support team working practices and ITIL is also desirable.

 

This role is offered on a full time, fixed term basis and is to be based on a shift pattern of either 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm. The SQL Data Specialist will also be required to provide out of hours working and/or on-call support when necessary.
