Industrial Engineer (24-month FTC)

Purpose: As an Industrial Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving our strategic priority to enhance our supply chain for our customers at our Distribution Warehouse in Frating. You will be involved in various initiatives such as designing new facilities, installing new automation, and enhancing warehouse infrastructure. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying, designing, and supporting the implementation of projects to improve efficiency, quality, reliability, and sustainability, ensuring we provide the right books at the right time to our customers.
Key responsibilities:
- Assess current warehouse layouts to support the design of new processes that minimise costs, increase quality, and improve overall customer value.
- Apply scientific and mathematical engineering principles to the distribution operation to build more efficient infrastructure.
- Analyse operating processes, including conveyor systems and automation solutions, and assess their suitability for PRH.
- Evaluate current operational practices and identify areas for improvement.
- Design and build proposals to achieve a lean, optimised operating model.
- Enhance ways of working for employees using engineering, math, business administration, and management knowledge.
- Combine technical abilities, people skills, and business expertise to design future solutions.
- Conduct statistical analyses and optimisation studies.
- Assist CI team members in developing their skills in reviewing operational processes and workflows using industrial engineering principles.
What you’ll bring
Essential criteria:

- Extensive experience and track record in warehouse, distribution, logistics, and supply chain management and track record in successful implementation of warehouse solutions including automation.
- Extensive experience in project management, planning and delivery.
- Understanding of compliance guidelines for different industries, including health and safety, engineering standards, and environmental requirements.
- Extensive experience using Excel and Power BI and ability to build statistical and volumetric modelling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for asking critical questions, presenting, coordinating, and implementing plans and delivering projects.

- Experience in compiling business cases and RFI/RFP documents and ability to perform feasibility analysis to determine the cost-benefits of proposed solutions.
Preferred criteria:
- Degree in industrial engineering or a related technical field (mechanical engineering, systems engineering, manufacturing engineering, civil engineering, or industrial engineering technologies, etc.).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) and PMI Agile Certification Practitioner (PMI-ACP).
- Lean or Six Sigma training.

Salary
£58,000 - £62,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role
