What does great HR mean to you?

Doing things differently and making things count, in a human and simple way, is our approach to HR at Penguin Random House.

We have a fantastic opportunity to join the team on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract basis as the HR Advisor for our Distribution teams in Frating and Manningtree, Essex. In this role, you will report into the HR Manager and will be the first point of contact for all of our people managers & colleagues. You'll be involved in a variety of tasks, including Employee Relations, compensation and talent management.

In this role, you will support approximately 200 individuals based across the two distribution sites. We’re looking for an HR Advisor who can thrive in this challenging but fun role by promoting a pro-active approach and paying attention to the detail. This role will cover all areas of HR and offers a great opportunity to get exposure to different teams across the whole business.

Ideally you will have:

  • Exposure to dealing with a variety of HR elements. Including, but not limited to disciplinary, grievances, absence management, Union relationships, parental leave and other sensitive HR areas of responsibility
  • Motivation to develop and ability to build relationships across the business areas
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems beneficial, but not essential
  • CIPD qualification is also beneficial
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite of applications

To apply for this role, please submit your CV and covering letter by midnight on 2nd October 2020.

In your Cover Letter, we’d like you to respond to the following questions:

  1. Please share an example of a time when you have worked with a union to resolve a problem. What did you learn from the experience and what were your key learnings?
  2. Can you tell us about an HR project that you have worked on and what role you played in it?
