We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Financial Services team in Frating, with occasional travel to the London sites.

 

This is a 12 month FTC role where you will be take full Financial Reporting control for one of the Penguin Random House Group Companies, with particular emphasis on Record to Report (R2R) activities in this role.

 

Reporting to the one of our Financial Accountants and supporting the wider Accounting Services team, you will need to be an effective team player, ensure good governance of third party providers, and manage internal and external relationships.

 

You will also own process and interface controls for transactions booked into out Trial Balance (P&L and BS) and take control of Group reporting and Balance Sheet control. You will also assist in completion of local Statutory Accounts and arrange payments to HMRC, pensions and court orders. If you enjoy building relationships with a number of groups of people and have excellent communication skills, this is the role for you.

 

Liasing with the Bertelsmann Internal Audit team and Compliance Accountant, you will with on internal audits, as well as assisting with the delivery of year end, half year and interim audits. You will ensure internal and external standards are adhered to as governed by internal policy and external legislation.

 

You will be submitting reports on a global Finance Reporting portal called Magnitude, as well as completing monthly and quarterly reporting packs for Virgin Books.

 

As someone who knows your way around Excel, you will have some previous relevant experience, and be studying towards an accountancy qualification. Exposure to a large company with multiple entities would be advantageous, as would experience of Statutory Accounts and Reports.

 

You will need to juggle multiple deadlines, ad-hoc projects and a high workload. This will suit you if you are commercially motivated and able to challenge current data and processes.
