Manager, Recorded Administration

Your mission is to provide our artists, license holders and other clients with proper accounting and the highest level of customer service. You will serve as a key contact internally for our labels’ A&R, Finance, Income Tracking, Royalty Processing, Supply Chain and Royalty Services teams for any royalty related inquires or functions. Your approach to the task is creating solutions and solving problems.

 

What You’ll Be Doing.

  • Matching and allocating income files received for US investment deals
  • Setting up and maintaining contractual royalty payout structures in our recorded royalty systems
  • Managing the accurate, timely processing and review of recorded royalty statements, processing adjustments where corrections are needed
  • Processing letters of direction within BMG’s recorded royalty systems
  • Supporting the reporting processes around key distribution dates and stakeholders’ requests
  • Reviewing and settling any pending, erroneous or unlicensed sales/royalty lines, as well as reviewing contract and product linkages
  • Supporting quarterly distribution processes through client account and payment list reviews
  • Supporting the workflow on BMG’s asset purchase agreements, from receivables to processing to reporting
  • Servicing the inquiries and requests from internal and external stakeholders and business partners
  • Handling various historical reviews and ad-hoc projects as the needs and complexity of the business grows

 

Must Haves.

  • Previous experience in a music rights administration or related accounting role 

  • Background reading and interpreting contracts, especially related to royalty provisions 

  • Strong problem-solving skills 

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel is required. Must demonstrate the ability to utilize intermediate-to-advanced Excel functions, including PivotTables, LOOKUPs, and other analytical functions. 

  • Strong communication and presentation skills both verbally and written 

  • Passion for the music industry, including royalties, licensing and rights administration. 

  • Strong analytical aptitude and comfortability working with financial data, calculations, spreadsheets.

  • Royalty applications (Record Maestro, Curve, SR1, etc.), Python, SQL, Looker (nice to have!

It’s a plus if you have a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Music Business, Accounting or Finance
