Your Mission at BMG

Your primary mission is to secure licenses for U.S. and Canadian physical and digital releases containing songs within BMG’s publishing catalog. You will establish and foster relationships with major and independent record labels, publishers, and agencies.

  • You have a comprehensive understanding of music publishing rights and best practices
  • You demonstrate flexibility to adapt in a changing environment.
  • You have strong written and verbal skills and can effectively communicate to internal and external partners.
  • You are highly motivated and work well in a team
  • You are a self-starter with the ability to prioritize and effectively follow through under pressure and or tight deadlines.



What You’ll Be Doing

  • Confirm publishing splits/label copy with labels prior to release of product containing BMG compositions.
  • Partner with Creative Admin to confirm splits for newly written compositions and track licensed releases which work towards fulfilling writer’s minimum delivery requirement commitments.                   
  • Review artist agreements supplied by labels to calculate rates payable for BMG composition in accordance with artist’s controlled composition clause.
  • Draft mechanical licenses and follow up with labels to ensure execution                
  • Communicate with Legal, Admin and Creative departments with respect to split disputes/legal holds.
  • Meet with labels regularly to discuss priority releases and pending open items
  • Utilize MDX to monitor and respond to label queries



Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Music Business or related field
  • 5 plus years working in mechanical licensing and or similarly related role
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.



Nice to Haves:

  • Experience using MDX
  • Familiarity with DDEX standards (MWN/MWL/ERN)
  • New Media Licensing Experience
  • Familiarity with the YouTube CMS
