Your Mission at BMG

The Nashville office of BMG Rights Management (US) LLC seeks a full-time manager to join its Business and Legal Affairs team. The position will focus on assisting the Business and Legal Affairs in-house counsel and other paralegals/assistants in entertainment-related transactions.

 

Your Profile

  • You have an interest in the music business including recorded music, music publishing, synch and marketing.
  • You have familiarity with a variety of music genres and digital audio file formats.
  • You are comfortable working in a team and are a self-starter. 
  • Your time management skills allow you to meet deadlines easily. 
  • You have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to track and follow through on multiple concurrent projects to completion.
  • You are well versed with internet research.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  •  Assist BMG in-house counsel and other paralegals/assistants as part of an attorney/paralegal team which are responsible for providing legal services for the BMG (e.g., including, but not limited to, drafting, reviewing and maintaining Artist agreements, Songwriter Agreements, Administration Agreements, option/purchase agreements, production services agreements, talent agreements, license agreements, appearance releases, location agreements, vendor agreements, music video agreements and material releases).
  • Gathering the necessary information in support of in-house counsel for agreements in the pipeline.
  • Account for the status of all deals.
  • Review agreements for inconsistencies, issues or errors.
  • Maintain and manage all contracts and agreements, including tracking Option exercises and Advance schedules.
  • Draft other intellectual property agreements and assist the respective client in navigating the execution process. 
  • Provide support and due diligence in connection with transactional matters.

 

 

Must-Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college/university.
  • Paralegal studies (Associates degree or certification), or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Paralegal in an in-house or law firm setting.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and detailed oriented.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple project and deadlines.
  • Personal accountability for work and work product; willing and able to follow through on complex issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a business-oriented service disposition.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
