Director Recorded Administration

 

Your mission is to deliver exceptional accounting services and outstanding customer support to our artists and clients. As a pivotal point of contact, you will collaborate closely with our labels' A&R, Finance, and Royalty Services teams to address and resolve any royalty-related inquiries with precision and efficiency. With a proactive mindset, you'll focus on crafting innovative solutions and tackling challenges head-on, ensuring seamless and impactful outcomes for all stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing.

  • Oversee Joint Venture activities and accounting related to recorded clients and investment deals.
  • Set up contract and royalty rate models per contractual royalty provisions.
  • Review artist/third party contracts and create royalty rate summaries.      
  • Review applicable royaltor and venture splits.
  • Coordinate with the recorded finance department to ensure accuracy of costs and other venture obligations.
  • Calculate and implement royalty adjustments.
  • comfortable working with financial data, calculations, spreadsheets.
  • Clear sales, product and rate calculation errors.
  • Delivery of joint venture statements.
  • Track status of joint ventures and provide overviews to clients and senior management.
  • Research and service inquiries from clients and their teams.   
  •  Exceptional attention for detail and the ability to track and follow through on multiple concurrent projects to completion.
  • Manage accurate, timely processing and review of joint venture statements.
  • Work closely with other key departments at BMG including legal, finance, creative & hub teams.
  • Support various ad-hoc projects, report requests, and royalty software testing as required.

 

Must Haves.

  • Previous royalty experience at a music company (label, publisher, DSP, CMO, etc.).
  • Background reading and interpreting contracts, especially related to royalty provisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel is required. Must demonstrate the ability to utilize intermediate-to-advanced Excel functions, including PivotTables, LOOKUPs, and other analytical functions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills both verbally and written.
  • Record Maestro/Curve/SR1, SAP, Python, SQL, Looker (nice to have!).

 

Nice if you have Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Music Business, Accounting or Finance.
