Senior Director - Finance (Global Catalogue Recordings)


Position:           Senior Director – Finance (Global Catalogue)

Contract:          12 Month Maternity Cover, ASAP Start 

Department:     International Finance Recordings Hub

Location:          Paddington, London (Currently home-working)


Your Mission at BMG.

You will be responsible for pro-actively supporting the continued growth of BMG’s global catalogue business, providing financial expertise and business partnering to senior management, reporting to the SVP Finance Director Global Catalogue Recordings. This role develops finance processes and reporting tools for wider use within the group, and is the key point person interacting between finance and product teams in BMG’s global London-based hub.


Your Responsibilities.

  • Budgeting and financial reporting
    • Provide regular support to BMG’s reporting cycle processes to ensure catalogue financial expectations around key reporting dates are appropriately managed
    • Work with SVP GCR to maintain appropriate forecasts of BMG’s global catalogue business
    • Work with SVP GCR to manage global catalogue budget process, liaising with BMG group budget team, local finance, and key management in BMG territories
  • FP&A for Countdown Media
    • Monthly Management Reporting
    • Budget Planning / /Forecasting
    • Financial Analysis (e.g Intercompany Revenue Streams)
    • Ad hoc information to Countdown MD
  • Global catalogue business plan
    • Working with GHC and SVP GCR to help ensure ongoing development and strategic implementation of Global Catalogue Five Year Business Plan
  • Development and provision of global catalogue reporting
    • Working with global catalogue team, IT, data teams and finance/royalties to create and drive forward BMG’s global catalogue reporting suite
    • Working with SVP GCR to provide ad hoc analysis for GHC
  • Analysis and monitoring of spend, and review of accounting procedures:
    • Manufacturing suppliers
    • Mechanical royalty providers
    • D2C partners
    • Digital marketing providers
    • Retail marketing providers
  • Development of Income Tracking procedures
    • Working with Recorded Hub finance team to create income tracking procedures covering key BMG partner arrangements, and in particular BMG’s global distribution deal
    • Liaising with SVP Income Tracking to facilitate timely leverage of BMG’s key distribution and licence contractual audit rights
  • Appraisal of new catalogue projects, acquisitions
    • Liaising with non-UK teams (catalogue, investments) to ensuring global head of catalogue (“GHC”) has full visibility on all material activity, and appropriate sign-off where applicable
    • Maintenance of global catalogue deal appraisal model
  • Post investment review of key catalogue investments/projects
    • Set up procedures to provide regular reviews of key projects for GHC and senior management
    • Liaison with internal audit and finance teams where applicable
  • Working with SVP - Global Catalogue Recordings on various ad hoc tasks, including provision of information for Group CFO, and regional CFOs on request

Your Profile.

  • ACCA / ACA qualified accountant with at least 4 years experience PQE
  • Experience working in the music industry desirable
  • Prior experience of dealing with non-financial senior management
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Passionate about music!
