The Director of Transportation & Logistics is responsible for the management of Arvato’s North American transportation and freight management. The role encompasses building, coaching and leading a team to support Arvato’s customers in the TECH, Consumer Products and Healthcare industries. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to carrier management, support of business development incl. pricing, development and management of B2B and B2C transport solutions, logistics routings, retail compliance, system configuration management, metrics to fulfill internal and external customer expectations. Arvato is an asset light provider and only works with selective carrier partner to full its customer’s mission.

YOUR TASKS

•    Responsible for all transportation activities and performance across North America  
•    Lead the Transportation operations of the organization, including carrier management, transport solution design & project management, freight billing & auditing, and dangerous goods compliance. 
•    Provide leadership and solution design support to account management and sales in the development of client solutions and transportation pricing requests.
•    Drive the development and cultivation of positive business relationships with clients that seek transport management solutions from Arvato. 
•    Manage all aspects of carrier partner usage, including onboarding, performance management, quality control, replacing, and process improvement.
•    Evaluate market trends and analyze carrier performance data to identify areas for improvement and make well-informed decisions.
•    Conduct pricing negotiations with carriers via RFP, and ad hoc.
•    Analyze customer data and establish pricing for freight services.
•    Support implementation of customer requirements for FTL, LTL, small parcel and special white glove services
•    Ensure carrier compliance with all regulatory requirements, company and customer specific policies or procedures. 
•    Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, volumes and carriers.
•    Work with cross functional teams including, procurement, legal, finance, and operations, to optimize services and drive continuous improvement.
•    Collaborate with the finance department to oversee carrier payments and address billing discrepancies.
•    Proactively identify and mitigate risks, disruptions, or quality issues in freight services, to minimize the impact on overall operations and customer satisfaction.
•    Partner with key internal and external resources to conduct investigations and resolve issues in accordance with company and client requirements. 
•    Manage a team of approximately 15 employees at various locations via direct and indirect reporting lines.
•    Support the development and maintenance of standard operation procedure for logistics processes nationwide.

YOUR PROFILE


•    10 years’ experience with multi location operational and planning skills
•    Degree in supply chain management or logistics fields 
•    Exceptional knowledge of freight management processes
•    Excellent verbal/written communication skills
•    Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated ability negotiating and managing transport contracts
•    Strong organizational, and interpersonal skills
•    Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
•    Self-directed and goal orientated
•    Customer service mindset
•    Knowledge of SAP TMS solutions  
•    Understanding of transportation industry regulations
•    Fluent in Microsoft Office applications
•    Experience with retailer routing guides strongly preferred
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
