Carbel, part of Arvato, is a full-service 3PL provider serving national and international clients across various industries, with a strong focus on fashion and retail. The Junior PLC Engineer is responsible for supporting the repair, maintenance, and optimization of the automated material handling and robotics systems within the Fulfillment Center. This role will work closely with senior engineers and maintenance teams to troubleshoot PLC-based systems, support robotics performance, and ensure high system availability. The Junior PLC Engineer will uphold all safety and operational standards while contributing to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.

 

YOUR TASKS

•    Assist with diagnosing and resolving issues in PLC-controlled systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and associated automated equipment.
•    Support routine maintenance, inspection, and calibration of robotics and automation infrastructure.
•    Collaborate with senior PLC engineers and automation teams to improve system reliability and throughput.
•    Provide first-level support for robotic systems, conveyors, and sortation equipment to minimize downtime.
•    Assist with implementing software and hardware changes under guidance from senior engineers.
•    Monitor equipment functionality and respond to alerts and error codes generated by automation systems.
•    Work from technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to troubleshoot electrical and control systems.
•    Complete maintenance work orders, logs, and reports accurately in computerized systems (CMMS).
•    Follow Arvato safety policies and lockout/tagout procedures when performing electrical work.
•    Participate in root cause analysis efforts for recurring equipment issues.
•    Support operational and engineering teams during equipment installations and upgrades.
•    Work safely at heights and in varying warehouse conditions, including hot or cold environments.

YOUR PROFILE

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or vocational training in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience with PLCs, electrical troubleshooting, or automation equipment.
  • Basic understanding of industrial automation, control systems, and robotics.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting sensors, relays, actuators, drives, and other I/O devices.
  • Comfortable reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and interpreting technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and shift work as needed.
  • Proficient with basic Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Willingness to learn and grow into more complex automation responsibilities.
