Accounts Payable Associate


The Bertelsmann Accounting Services is seeking  an experienced Accounts Payable to join their team.  Under moderate supervision and following standard guidelines is responsible for processing vendor invoices, check/wire requests, T&E reports, monitoring EDI/electronic invoice postings, reconciling employee payment accounts and electronic filing ofverified work. Additionally, responds to payment inquiries, reviews/researches invoice problems, and reconciles accounts to ensure timely payments. Takes ownership of responsibilities and is accountable for individual results.




  • Responsible for daily electronic and paper processing of invoices, credits, check requests and other payment requests
  • into SAP system with speed and accuracy and within established guidelines
  • Responsible for accurate verification and posting of entries into SAP system
  • Processing of Travel & Entertainment (corporate credit cards and employee reimbursements) reports via the Concur
  • system including verification of receipts and project coding
  • Processing of employee reimbursement and maintains/reconciles spreadsheet monthly
  • Knowledge of tax codes (taxable vs. non-taxable) relevant to payments processed
  • Daily electronic filing of processed/verified work
  • Reviews daily new problems and responds accordingly to resolve the issue
  • Follows up daily on old problems sent out for resolution to ensure answers are obtained and issues are resolved within set guidelines and maintains problem spreadsheet
  • Utilizes all tools and reports available to facilitate problem resolution
  • Periodically reviews assigned vendor accounts and reconciles vendor accounts
  • Makes logical and sound decisions, and keeps management apprised of potential problems/concerns
  • Professionally responds to inquiries from internal and external customers/vendors
  • Actively identifies on-going issues and recommends solutions to correct or improve our processes
  •  Possess overall comprehension of SAP specifically AP, account code structures, approval requirements, purchasin modules, etc. for entry/payment processing and researching account payment statuses
  •  Performs other tasks and projects as needed
  •  Manages priorities to meet deadlines within established guidelines
  • Demonstrates self-reliance and resourcefulness



• High school diploma or equivalent


Professional experience / competencies / traits


Demonstration of exceptional data entry skills

• 1-2 years AP, accounting or related experience preferred

• Possess strong computer, math and analytical skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

• Accurate, organized and detail oriented with exceptional follow up skills

• Able to set priorities and manage the daily workflow

• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environment with heavy work volume and with others in a team environment to

meet individual and departmental goals

• Ability to identify and resolve problems

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills

• Strong Customer Service skills required
