Designer - Sasquatch Books

Sasquatch Books is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Designer to join our team. The Designer creates graphic design and production work that results in innovative, well-designed titles with target audience appeal. The Designer works directly with and manages illustrators and photographers on assigned adult and children’s book titles. Multiple projects are managed simultaneously, developing creative, appropriate, and marketable solutions, designing projects from conception through publication. 


Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Book design, typesetting, and composition for covers and interiors using InDesign for children’s and adult books
  • Work directly with photographers and illustrators and manage project deadlines and details on assigned children’s and adult book titles
  • Participate in design review meetings, presenting concepts and final designs
  • Maintain organization of files and artwork
  • Ensure accordance with budget limitations; ensure permissions requirements are met
  • Adhere to Sasquatch production standards on design, pre-flight and image adjustment


Please apply if you meet the following minimum requirements:

  • At least two years experience in graphic arts, preferably in book design/publishing
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator) 
  • Proven project management skills, including an abililty to plan and develop schedules, establish priorities, and  work with freelancers and other departments to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to think creatively in a collaborative team environment
  • Detail oriented and calm under pressure
  • Flexibility and responsiveness during design review process
  • High interest in contemporary typography and design trends as can be applied to book design
  • Actively aware of audiences and customers of the publisher’s products
  • Strong visual design capabilities
