VP, Acquisition and Subsidiary Support (Hybrid)

Penguin Random House “PRH” is seeking a highly strategic and analytical operations professional to join our team as Vice President – Acquisition and Subsidiary Support, reporting to the Executive Vice President, PRHPS.  In this role you will collaborate daily with our M&A, Publishing Operations, Strategic Projects and Client Services teams.  You will provide strategic guidance to our subsidiary businesses balancing PRH requirements and their independent spirits.  In this role, you will lean heavily on established integration best practices as you develop solutions that are unique to the needs of our subsidiaries. This position will be responsible for both general strategic oversight, and day-to-day support of our affiliated companies.  

  
Strategic Oversight:  

  • Works collaboratively with the M&A team to understand the unique needs of our subsidiaries and how best to support them through a transition.  
  • Develops project plans for initial integrations appropriate to the needs of the subsidiary to help unlock the value of being a PRH company.  
  • Creates standards, processes and procedures to optimize subsidiary potential.
  • Works inter-departmentally to confirm understanding of how subsidiaries will fit into the whole.  
  • Makes concrete recommendations to upper management to underlying strategic initiatives that will create benefit across companies.  
  • Learns best-practices and novel approaches and bring those into the larger organization.  
  • Manages the financial planning and analysis processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling.  
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to prioritize strategic initiatives and allocate resources.   
      

Day-to-Day:  

  • Oversees financials and allocates appropriate expenses.  
  • Assesses, over time, how individual subsidiaries should integrate and communicate appropriate timelines.  
  • Liaises with HR, IT and Publishing Operations to ensure subsidiaries have appropriate access to systems, software and tools.  
  • Answers question, troubleshoots and facilitates work by liaising with areas included but not limited to: Sales, Operations, Production, Marketing, Finance etc.    
  • Ensures that subsidiaries businesses meet PRH compliance standards.  
  • Becomes the point person to create clarity around support services.  

   

Requirements:    

  • At least 12 years of progressive experience in operations, publishing, or integration work  
  • An innovative, strategic thinker with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills  
  • Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to work under pressure to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment   
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills   
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Power BI. SAP experience a plus  
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred   

  

Salary for this position is $160,000-$180,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
