The Crown imprint of the Random House Publishing Group is seeking to fill the position of Publishing Assistant to support both the President and Deputy Publisher of the imprint. We are looking for an individual who can provide comprehensive support and assistance in the daily operations of this office. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to all areas of the publishing process.

The Publishing Assistant who assumes this position must be able to manage two calendars independently while also exercising the utmost sensitivity to the responsibilities and needs of both executives. This individual must communicate and interact effectively, efficiently and professionally with management and employees at all levels of the organization and with external clients and contacts. High ethical standards and a thorough understanding of the importance of discretion and confidentiality are essential to the role.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Maintaining calendars and coordinating meetings
  2. Handling and screening emails and meeting requests
  3. Creating and distributing agendas and PowerPoint presentations
  4. Researching sales figures, pricing data, and contracts
  5. Handling special projects to support the overall efforts of the division
  6. Processing expense reports
  7. Making travel arrangements and creating comprehensive itineraries, post-COVID

 

Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to anticipate future needs
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and set priorities
  • Interest in the publishing industry/media/culture is a plus
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


Successful candidates will be happy performing normal administrative duties while also demonstrating the ability to take initiative and exercise independent thinking where needed.
