Penguin is seeking a Publicist/Senior Publicist to work with a wide variety of non-fiction titles.  This position will execute independent publicity campaigns for categories including: self-help, parenting, wellness, psychology, food, etc.  The Publicist/Senior Publicist will also be a strong contributor to social media campaigns while developing and maintaining relationships with the media.

Specifically, the Publicist/Senior Publicist:

  1. Books print coverage, radio interviews, author appearances, online media, and book signing tours.
  2. Brainstorms and executes creative publicity and marketing strategies.
  3. Interacts with authors and agents.
  4. Meets with and pitches national and regional media; sends books to media contacts.
  5. Writes press releases and materials.
  6. Maintains and strengthens TarcherPerigee’s media contacts, particularly in the success/business, parenting, creativity, relationship, self-help, and spirituality realms.
  7. Helps maintain the imprint’s publicity database (records of contacts, detailed and organized logs of publicity projects).
  8. Attends meetings with booksellers, authors and agents and helps coach the publicity assistant on publicity procedures and practices
  9. Researches unique projects and regularly contributes to the imprint’s social media outreach (including the TarcherPerigee blog).

 

Requirements:

  • 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience
  • Experience working with non-fiction titles preferred
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Interest in developing new contacts in the personal growth space (with such outlets as MindBodyGreen, Oprah.com, Self, etc.)
  • Ability to travel up to 5% by airplane, train and/or car required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), CisionPoint and Publicity Assistant
  • Knowledge of Wordpress and FinalCut Pro a plus
