We are seeking a dynamic and creative Podcast Specialist to join our publicity department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in podcast booking, production, public relations, and media outreach. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a passion for storytelling. Random House offers the opportunity to work with authors OF books across the literary fiction, genre fiction, and nonfiction categories. Our Authors include: Jodi Picoult, Peter Attia, Elizabeth Strout, Dr. Mary Clare Haver, Hanif Abdurraqib, Ibram X. Kendi, Curtis Sittenfeld, Lee Child, Nicholas Sparks, Silvia Morena-Garcia, Sarah Adams, Ann Napolitano, and Danielle Jenson, among many others. This position provides an intensive education in trade book publicity, the trade publishing landscape, and the opportunity to immerse oneself in an energetic, exciting, and highly collaborative environment.
The podcast specialist will partner with the Random House publicity team, with a focus on “word-of-mouth” reach for our titles and authors, and drive innovation to become a leading source of talent within the podcast ecosystem. The ideal candidate should have confidence in their relationship management skills, have a proven track record in using their targeted approach to communicate effectively, and be dedicated to building and maintaining relationships with new podcast networks and start-ups, ensuring that our books are consistently top of mind for podcast hosts and producers. The new member of our publicity team will be day-one ready to use their podcasting expertise to enhance our efforts in engaging with audiences looking for their next read.
This hybrid position has occasional in-office responsibilities, including but not limited to in-office meetings, author visits or events, and daily ad hoc administrative projects. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).

Day-to-day tasks will include:
- Develop and execute podcast publicity strategies to promote Random House authors and their works
- Collaborate with authors, editors, and marketing teams to create content and angles that will be compelling to podcast producers
- Build and maintain relationships with podcast hosts, producers, and other media contacts
- Pitch podcast episodes and guest appearances to relevant media outlets
- Monitor and analyze podcast performance metrics to optimize content and strategies
- Coordinate and manage podcast-related events, such as live recordings and author interviews
- Create and maintain a dynamic podcast database
- Develop dynamic reporting on podcast coverage and landscape
- Stay current and predictive with industry trends and best practices in podcasting and publicity.
The Essentials:
- Minimum 4 years of proven experience working in podcasting and podcast production with an emphasis on publicity and media relations is preferred
- Proactive mindset and an interest in keeping up with trends within the podcasting landscape
- Avid reader with a generalist taste for fiction and nonfiction titles
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Creative thinker with a passion for books and storytelling
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Experience in trade book publicity is a plus but not a requirement to succeed in this role
The salary for this position is $66,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
