Permissions Assistant (Hybrid)

We are currently seeking a Permissions Assistant to join the Permissions Department! The Permissions Department handles requests to reprint or reproduce material from Penguin Random House content.

This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities, we will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Reads and correctly interprets author/publisher contracts and enters contract terms into corporate data systems. 
  • Processes permission requests for use of Penguin Random House material and generates permission licenses to third parties. 
  • Enters and maintains data in corporate rights management systems. 
  • Provides general office support including processing/distributing department mail, research, filing and general correspondence. 

 

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with MS Excel & Word required, including speed and accuracy
  • Basic grasp of US copyright law, public domain, fair-use, and intellectual property preferred
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of reading comprehension
  • A self-starter and detail-oriented, with the ability to organize and prioritize assignments
  • Ability to respond to a high volume of requests and queries in a courteous, efficient, and timely manner

  

The salary for this position is $48,000.00. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
