Random House is seeking a Designer to join our Advertising and Creative Operations department. This position requires strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work on a variety of projects in a very fast-paced environment. The designer will create advertising and promotional assets promoting books in the Random House, One World, Roc-Lit 101, and Ballantine Bantam Dell imprints and in collaboration with our marketing and publicity departments. This is an amazing opportunity to join an innovative integrated department and work with the renowned titles published by Random House
The Role:
- Create designed digital assets, including display ads and email creative; print advertising, including magazine and newspaper ads; and in-store and promotional materials
- Create animated book covers and trailers
- Have a strong interest in working on a wide variety of high-quality fiction and nonfiction titles
- Work closely with Art Directors to refine designs, incorporate feedback, and route work to internal departments
- Stay up to date on current best practices and trends in design and digital marketing
The Essentials:
- A passion for design and typography—as demonstrated by a stellar portfolio
- Excellent graphic design skills
- Experience with preparing files for print: digital and offset
- Highly proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator—and the interest and ability to learn new systems and applications
- Knowledge of animation and video editing (Adobe After Effects and Premiere) a very big plus
- Illustration skills a plus
- Timely follow-up skills with the Random House and Ballantine Bantam Dell marketing teams and other departments, and the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects in a fast-paced and details-focused environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with the team when needed
- A goal-oriented team player who can cultivate productive working relationships
- Proficiency in creative problem solving, decision making, and time management
- Proficiency when using social media platforms as a marketing tool
