Marketing Assistant - Audience Engagement (Hybrid)

The Random House Children's Books Marketing department is seeking a Marketing Assistant, to join the Audience Engagement team for a hybrid role (2 days per week in NYC office). This is an opportunity to join a fast-paced, collaborative team that oversees all aspects of digital marketing for books for children of all ages including paid advertising, social media, newsletters, websites, influencer promotions, and more. This is a key role to support the division’s advertising efforts across programmatic, paid social, display advertising, and influencer partnerships as well as assist with project management and coordination of various digital marketing tasks.  

 

This role will work across two distinct channels. The Random House Kids channel targets parents, caregivers, and gatekeepers, and showcases books for children of all ages from babies through middle school readers. The Underlined channel targets teen and crossover adult readers and showcases young adult books across all genres such as romance, thriller, and fantasy.    

 

RHCB is home to bestselling authors like Ms. Rachel, Holly Jackson, Nic Stone, Christopher Paolini, Philip Pullman, Nicola Yoon, Karen M. McManus and classic children’s brands like Magic Tree House, Dr. Seuss, Little Golden Books, and Sesame Street, just to name a few. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organization and administrative skills, attention to detail, and an interest in social media, digital marketing, advertising, and children’s book publishing. The assistant will report to the Director, Audience Engagement Strategy and the Senior Manager, Advertising and will have the opportunity to work with and learn from the RHCB Marketing team, the PRH Ad Operations team, and the PRH Performance Marketing team.   

 

Specific responsibilities include:   

  • Maintains processes and tracks projects for the team, oversees weekly Audience Engagement project status meeting, updates the team on the status of projects in the pipeline, proactively communicates due dates, aligns team projects with marketing department key dates, makes updates in the department project management system in real time.    
  • Manages the design and asset creation workflow in partnership with the Marketing Design team including adding tasks to the team’s project management system on a seasonal basis, submitting copy, routing assets for approval, incorporating feedback, trafficking and archiving finalized assets.   
  • Builds and manages the team’s advertising grid, populating campaigns on a seasonal basis, adding drop ins as they arise, and updating budgets and run dates as needed.   
  • Tracks and manages advertising campaign progress, spec sheet/media updates, influencer deliverables and IO approval, and compiles campaign analytics and creative screenshots.  
  • Supports advertising vendor booking and influencer campaigns as needed.   
  • Processes all team invoices and new vendor set up forms, tracks payment, updates budget documents, and works with the marketing team, vendors, and PRH Accounts Payable department to ensure timely payment for all vendors.   
  • Organizes and coordinates Audience Engagement team book shipments to influencers, external vendors, content creation partners, and prize winners.   
  • Assists Audience Engagement team with additional tasks and administrative projects such as taking meeting notes, coordinating books and props for in-office photoshoots, mailings for influencer programs and partnerships, building and maintaining seasonal tracking grids and processes, managing team file storage system, and acting as team point person for corporate and departmental processes.

  • Prior internship experience in marketing   
  • Prior administrative and/or project management experience
  • Proactive and exceptionally organized with sharp attention to detail    
  • Ability to multi-task and will thrive in a fast-paced environment.    
  • Strong communication, interpersonal & writing skills are essential    
  • Interest in and knowledge of social media, advertising, and digital marketing a plus    
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Teams, Google docs; working knowledge of Project management tools     

  

This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities 2 days per week. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).

 

The salary for this position is $51,000.00. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
