Marketing & Publicity Assistant, Crown & Currency (Hybrid)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing & Publicity Assistant to join Penguin Random House. Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Publicity, this role will assist in executing campaigns for non-fiction hardcover and paperback titles in a fast-paced, fun, and highly collaborative environment.

 

Crown Currency is the Crown division’s imprint for books about business, technology, and personal success, with authors like Palantir CEO Alexander C. Karp, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, journalist Zeke Faux, Silicon Valley visionary Eric Ries, acclaimed journalist Rana Foroohar, activist Reshma Saujani, and Earn Your Leisure podcasters Troy Millings and Rashad Bilal. Our ideal candidate is a highly motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented individual capable of applying their core skills in organization, multitasking, problem solving, data analysis, and communication to the position of Marketing & Publicity Assistant. We are looking for an efficient, creative candidate to join our dynamic team and bring a fresh perspective while collaborating on tasks such as writing promotional copy, pitching the media, creating designed assets, and generating new ideas for social media campaigns and influencer outreach.

 

We hope to find an Assistant with a strong interest in current events who would be excited to be at the forefront of the changing landscape of work, business, and finance.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assist in media outreach for campaigns, including seeking new opportunities and maintaining author media and tour schedules
  • Help build media lists and update databases with a particular focus on the business and self-improvement space
  • Conduct influencer research and assist in influencer outreach across social media
  • Help support b2b and bulk buy opportunities
  • Assist in generating promotional copy, including for press materials and social media
  • Help brainstorm and create marketing assets, and trafficking for approval
  • Support the implementation of marketing and publicity initiatives that achieve impact across a range of channels
  • Assist on a variety of other tasks, including scheduling meetings, creating presentations, mailings, budget tracking

  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects across teams, with a focus on details and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and management tools
  • Familiarity with design platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
  • Familiarity with online programs such as Canva, Muckrack, Mailchimp a plus
  • Interest in nonfiction and business is essential

The salary for this position is $51,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.

 

The position of marketing and publicity assistant at Crown is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities, which will include but not be limited to executing mailings, participating in and contributing to in-person meetings with authors and agents, and providing office support. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT, & PA).
