Editorial Assistant, Harmony & Rodale Books (Hybrid)
We are currently seeking an Editorial Assistant to join the Harmony and Rodale imprints. This assistant role will support two executive-level non-fiction editors. Harmony Books publishes nonfiction by thought leaders, distinguished authorities, credentialed experts, and important voices seeking to reshape the cultural conversation. Harmony is home to titles that give readers the information and inspiration they need to live fuller, better lives, books about wellness, psychology, science, spirituality, relationships, personal growth, plus memoirs with a message. Rodale Books is a destination for visionary and practical nonfiction that helps and inspires people to improve their lives. We publish nonfiction by cutting-edge experts and innovators in the fields of health and fitness, cooking, lifestyle, self-improvement, career advancements, relationships, parenting, and spirituality. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in these categories and will be able to efficiently manage a diverse set of responsibilities.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Provides administrative support, such as tracking deadlines, organizing and scheduling meetings, filing expense reports, routing invoices, executing mailings, and drafting contract terms.
• Evaluates proposals and manuscripts, logs submissions, and drafts rejection letters.
• Transmits manuscripts to production and liaises with authors, publishers, agents, and the managing editorial department to coordinate and keep track of production process from finished manuscript to bound book.
• Prepares title information sheets, cover copy, profit & loss documents, and conducts competitive title and trend research as needed.

• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• A team player mentality and the ability to build internal & external relationships with departments, authors, agents, and other stakeholders
• Exceptional attention to detail and outstanding follow-up, organizational, and multitasking skills
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, take initiative and solve problems creatively and professionally in a fast-paced office environment
• Ability to prioritize and manage a large number of tasks
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
The salary for this position is $51,000.00. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
