Director, Brand - Dr. Seuss (Open to Remote)

Random House Children’s Books is looking for a creative, market-focused and sales-oriented Brand Director for the Dr. Seuss business to serve as lead for the brand internally and with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, its licensees and partners. Together with the publishing team and sales department, the Brand Director will set strategy, define goals, and oversee growth activities for Dr. Seuss publishing program. 

  

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Serves as Dr. Seuss Enterprises (DSE) lead with PRH for Dr. Seuss business, liaises with all PRH departments: publishing, marketing, PR, sales, rights, finance, legal. 
  • With the publisher, helps develop Dr. Seuss book brand vision and profile and communicates internally and externally to key DSE partners and licensees. 
  • Collaborates with publishing and sales team to shape Dr. Seuss publishing and retail strategy, generates creative ideas driven by sales data and market trends, and executes major business initiatives to drive sales. 
  • Leads strategic initiatives for Dr. Seuss Brand to inform brand positioning and program development including business analysis, competitive analysis and consumer research.  
  • Establishes sales benchmarks and regularly provides key insights to publishing and sales team. 
  • Updates the publishing, marketing, publicity, and sales divisions with regular review of sales trends for Dr. Seuss business. 
  • Provides sales and industry analysis to support editorial in acquisition process. 
  • Leads internal communication and coordination around Dr. Seuss brand initiatives and key marketing programs. 
  • Leads quarterly DSE + RHCB Business Review Meetings, covering Dr. Seuss Publishing Business, children’s category trends and general publishing Industry sales trends, and book retail industry updates. 
  • Provides sales reporting and analysis for DSE on a bi-weekly basis. 
  • Manages relationships and serves and key point of contact with DSE Licensees and major external partners. 
  • Initiates post-mortem analysis of measurable campaigns, communicate to team and make recommendations for future opportunities. 
  • Maintains a deep understanding of the history and current state of the property and a broad knowledge of children’s book marketplace and competitive landscape. 
  • Travels to trade shows, retail meetings and brand summits on occasion. 

  

Please apply if you meet the following qualifications: 

  • 8+ years publishing, sales, licensing, or brand management experience 
  • Proven success working collaboratively to develop strategic plans to drive sales 
  • Senior-level presence and leadership skills with the ability to inspire trust and develop relationship with key partners 
  • Experience in market research, sales analysis, and financial reporting 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills 
  • Broad knowledge of social media, digital media and strategic understanding of marketing and media campaign development 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint as well as research and analytic tools 
  • Ability to travel to trade shows, retail meetings and brand summits on occasion

 

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
