Designer/Senior Designer - Creative Marketing Services (Hybrid)

We are seeking a Designer or Senior Designer to conceptualize and design marketing, publicity, and promotional materials under tight deadlines. Working primarily for the Avery, Tarcher, Portfolio, Thesis, Sentinel imprints, and the Corporate team, this position will work with the Art Director and marketers to refine designs, incorporate feedback, and route work to internal departments. 

 

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Conceptualizing and designing print and digital promotional materials for our books, including but not limited to print and digital ads and collateral, social media images, website assets, infographics, postcards, bookmarks, videos and animations, presentations and point-of-purchase displays. 
  • Submitting pixel-perfect, typo-free print and digital work to media partners, printers, and vendors. 
  • Photography and photo researching, as well as retouching and color correction of images. 
  • Creating physical mockups and digital product shots in Photoshop. 
  • Working with ad traffickers to generate ad tags and trackers for digital advertising. 
  • Managing various design-related operations, remote and in-office. 
  • Keeping up to date on design trends and marketing news. 

 

Please apply if you meet the following requirements: 

  • Minimum of 4–6 years of design or advertising/promotions experience 
  • Prior book publishing experience a plus 
  • Excellent design ability, including strong type design and illustration, as demonstrated by a stellar portfolio 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Proven ability to create and revise designs under pressure and meet demanding deadlines 
  • Able to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once 
  • Able to work collaboratively and cross-departmentally  
  • Flexible, inquisitive, and eager to learn 
  • Excellent communication skills  
  • Experience with color correction, retouching, and preparing files for print: digital and offset 
  • Mastery of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator 
  • Proficiency in video editing (Adobe Premiere) and animation (Adobe After Effects) 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook 
  • Knowledge of HTML, HTML5, and Adobe Dreamweaver a plus 

 

This is a hybrid position, with in-office presence required as needed or approximately once a week. We welcome applicants within commuting distance of our 1745 Broadway offices, including those based in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT, and PA) or along the Northeast Corridor. 

 

The salary for the Designer level is $66,500. The salary for the Senior Designer level is $73,500. All positions are currently eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company performance.
