Sr. Managing Editor

Senior Managing Editor- Penguin Young Readers

Penguin Random House is seeking a Senior Managing Editor in the Penguin Young Readers trade division.  The Penguin Young Readers trade division publishes a variety of children’s book formats, including picture books, board books, middle grade, young adult, and graphic novels. 

 The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years managing editorial or related project management experience; the ability to oversee the publication of over 200 titles per year; and the willingness to be part of a collaborative team in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.  

Specific responsibilities include:
1.    Managing the editorial, design, and production schedules for over 200 frontlist children’s titles per year.  
2.    Supervise associate level managing editor. 
3.    Oversee regular production meetings.
4.    Coordinate with production editorial to maintain workload balance.
5.    Oversee title set-up and metadata maintenance in SAP.
6.    Liaise with marketing, sales, publicity, and publishing operations.
7.    Facilitate the creation of digital Advance Reader Copies (ARC) for sales, marketing, and publicity.
8.    Responsible for weekly reprint schedules as needed.
9.    Oversee e-book conversion and quality control.

•    Prior direct supervisory experience
•    Excellent communication skills, including a strong ability to interact with employees across various departments.
•    Minimum 5 years managing editorial or project management experience.
•    Superb organizational and time management skills.
•    Outstanding ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
•    Strong attention to detail.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
•    Familiarity File Maker Pro a plus.
