Associate, Production Prepress - (Open to remote)

The Random House Production Department is seeking a technically proficient Production Prepress Associate to join its team. Working with our Production and Design departments, you will play a crucial role in preparing digital files for print, ensuring that they meet industry technical specifications and are optimized for the printing process. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Color correction and photo retouching in Photoshop. 
  • Export print PDF’s out of InDesign, ensuring they meet proper technical specifications and are optimized for print. 
  • Outputting Epson color guidance; reviewing proofs with Production Manger if needed. 
  • Perform preflight checks on all files to identify and resolve any issues that may affect print quality. 
  • Assist in managing and organizing digital assets, including working document versions, fonts, and images. 
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in prepress technology and software. 
  • Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that may arise during the production process. 
  • Maintain process documentation. 
  • Follow established workflows and procedures to ensure efficient and timely completion of projects. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • 1+ years of experience understanding prepress processes.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop. Experience in Illustrator is a plus. 
  • Strong understanding of prepress processes, including color management, file formats, and resolution. 
  • Familiarity with preflighting tools and software. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to spot and correct errors. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 

 

The salary for this position is $53,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
