Assistant Managing Editor, Ten Speed & Clarkson Potter (Remote)

Crown Publishing Group is seeking an Assistant Managing Editor to join the Ten Speed Press/Clarkson Potter imprints who will report to the Senior Managing Editor. You will be a key member of a small, highly collaborative team within the larger Crown Publishing Group division that is experiencing a period of exciting growth.

 

This position requires meticulous attention to detail and great people skills. You will manage and disperse information company-wide and help bring to fruition our diverse list of books and products each season. This job is an exciting opportunity to learn what goes into publishing everything from celebrity cookbooks and graphic novels to jigsaw puzzles and postcards to books on health and well-being to children’s board and picture books. You’ll have an opportunity to collaborate with departments across our division, including editorial, production, design, and marketing.

The Role:

  • Assist with day-to-day upkeep of the publishing database (SAP) for print books and ebooks.
  • Schedule seasonal meetings by imprint and create/distribute meeting materials.
  • Create and distribute weekly company-wide memos of substantive changes.
  • Oversee communication around all book titles and subtitles, copyediting as necessary
  • Input and update book metadata that display on internal websites as well as online retailers.
  • Work on reprints for both print books and ebooks, collaborating with the Production Editorial team, Design team, and corporate reprint Production team.
  • Provide general support to the Managing Editorial department as we expand our imprints to include children’s publishing and grow our graphic novel and 1-color publishing programs.

The Essentials:

  • At least 3 years of experience in Managing Editorial or Production Editorial, ideally within trade publishing
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Solid proofreading skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including an ability to interact with employees across various departments
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • A genuine interest in managing editorial/project management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC

 

The salary for this position is $53,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
