We are looking for an Assistant to support the Associate Director, Creative Services and the Putnam Art Department. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in learning about the inner-workings of a fast-paced art department in a large publishing house!

 

Specifically, the Art Department Assistant:

 

  1. Ensures all art and design rights for each title have been licensed/cleared for use in all formats & editions before use.
  2. Fields and responds to internal requests for cover/jacket printout and files.
  3. Coordinates uploading of covers to internal database.
  4. Prepares for weekly cover department meetings (scheduling meetings, creating presentations, taking notes, etc.)
  5. Processes invoices and files cover proofs.
  6. Supports designers by putting together cover mechanicals.
  7. Aids designers with obtaining hi-resolution images.
  8. Provides administrative support to Associate Director, Creative Services and Art Directors as needed.

 

Please apply if you meet the following requirements:

 

  • Working knowledge of Mac platform
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Previous related internship preferred
