2024 Fall - 2025 Spring Internship Program: Publicity, Adult Books

Learn about the world of publishing!

Discover career opportunities with our PUBLICITY department in our ADULT divisions.

Our dedicated team of publishing professionals is committed to helping authors realize their very best work and to finding innovative new ways of bringing stories and ideas to audiences worldwide. Find your story in our books!

Publicity professionals generate exposure and “buzz” for new books and are the biggest advocates of the titles to the media. Publicists pitch newspapers, television, radio stations, websites and bloggers with the hope the press will review our titles and feature stories about forthcoming books and authors. Publicists also help create social media outreach, author tours, author signings, readings, and other events.

Some responsibilities may include:

  • Researching media contacts
  • Crafting pitches for publicity campaigns
  • Tracking media coverage and mailing books to media contacts
  •  Assisting in select publicity book mailings (remotely)
  • Attending team meetings to help brainstorm new outlets or contacts to pitch our books

Penguin Random House offers an immersive 20-week PAID, REMOTE internship opportunity through the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, available in our adult, children’s, and corporate divisions. Interns will have the opportunity to learn how to create publicity campaigns, work on projects to develop skills in publicizing books and receive robust training from our publicity teams to support professional growth. Our interns are also exposed to the publishing process and our business through panels, networking events, and a mentoring program!

What you study does not matter!  We are looking for your desire to work with books, your drive to learn and your curiosity for the publishing industry.
