The Penguin Random House Legal Department is seeking a first-year law student for its PAID 10-week Summer Legal Internship opportunity. Summer interns work for 28 hours, four days a week at our New York City office and are compensated $20hr. Summer housing will be available for up to 10 selected interns from our entire company internship program.


Interns will be exposed to a variety of legal disciplines, including defamation, copyright, right of publicity, privacy, trademark, and commercial law in addition to the rest of the publishing business through panels, networking events, employee speaker series, and even lunch with our CEO. Interns will be asked to conduct legal research, review books for legal concerns, draft contracts, and assist the legal team in tackling the variety of challenges associated with being the world’s largest publisher of English language books.
