Sr Designer, Production - (Open to remote)
The Random House Children’s Books Licensed art team is seeking a highly motivated, experienced individual with project management, design and technical skills for digital art and print-ready file prep as well as supporting our Disney licensed publishing team designing interiors for various formats. Formats include YA, Middle Grade, Board books, Picture books, Novelty books, and many others.
The role includes art manipulation/correction, prep per printer’s guidelines for frontlist, as well designing unique proprietary projects for retailers. In this fast-paced, collaborative environment, the Senior Production Designer should be highly organized, process-oriented and able to utilize their expertise to enhance project outcomes, anticipate roadblocks and problem-solve.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Ability to refine design concepts, prepare print-ready files per production’s guidelines, and maintain brand and licensing consistency through multiple formats.
2.Responsible for the design and execution of book interiors for Disney licensed formats.
3. Production design tasks such as creation of cover effects, die lines, stickers, digital alteration of art, apply changes to the layouts and text, with a focus on correcting color and creating digital pre-press files for all book formats
4. Self-manage workload to meet deadlines and prioritize accordingly. Must enforce internal schedules while managing Disney licensor approval time.

- 7-10 years of production design experience in publishing or in-house corporate graphic design environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong knowledge of pre-press, 1-color and 4-color printing process, and PDF workflow.
- Strong sense of composition with a focus on typography, color theory, book design and layout.
- Highly proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and other relevant design tools.
- Able to complete a wide range of tasks digitally for print art and mechanical file prep: such as special effects, die lines, templates, masking, flap book set up, actions/scripting, activities /mazes, ink density, color correction, art manipulation and correction.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Proficient in photo manipulation techniques and color correction
- Layout design expertise with an emphasis in print publishing
- Highly organized, able to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail, quality and process.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively, with sensitivity and self- awareness, in large group setting
This position is open to remote candidates.
The salary for this position is $73,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
