The Role


The publicist will work predominantly on the launch of Neighbours which is coming back to screens via Amazon Freevee. The role will work closely with the Head of Press and other senior members of the team and provide PR support for the series as well as programming across Fremantle UK labels. The person will be comfortable devising and implementing PR strategies across key shows and delivering dynamic, creative, and effective publicity campaigns.


The successful candidate will manage relationships with production, high profile talent, agents, PR’s, traditional and non-traditional media, influencers and show contributors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver strategic, proactive publicity for key programming generating widespread and favourable coverage
  • To continually look for creative and innovative ways to increase positive coverage
  • To organise and manage press days/launches/events/photo shoots/briefings with key talent
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with talent, the production team, and key partners
  • Maintain excellent relationships with targeted journalists
  • Prepare written materials for promotional purposes, including press releases and articles, and ensure that the messages are communicated effectively
  • Pitch media, secure opportunities, cover set visits and manage junkets
  • Work with the digital team, programme partners, marketing team and sponsors where relevant to ensure all activity is on brand and integrated
  • Advise senior programme executives on potential issues with programme editorial, suggesting solutions to manage any issues
  • Commission and oversee publicity stills, as well as managing the relationship with the shows’ photography agency and network picture teams for all programme photography


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • An excellent news sense with the ability to spot and generate news stories, along with a strong understanding of the news gathering process
  • Proven record of achievement in press and public relations - with some experience, ideally in TV/Entertainment, and demonstrable successes in the delivery of high profile, proactive publicity campaigns
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written and the ability to deal effectively with a range of different people (stakeholders, production, media, talent)
  • Proven creativity – trying out new ideas and ways of thinking with an appetite to produce and try out new ideas as a way of securing favourable publicity
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • The ability to work effectively under high pressure and in changing circumstances, ensuring that a high standard of work and editorial judgement is maintained
  • Good working knowledge of the media industry and the TV production process
  • Experience of managing high profile talent and building effective working relationships
  • Experience of organising and managing press events and launches
  • Excellent IT skills, including advanced skills on social media platforms
  • Experience of editing software and proven content creation
  • Ideally some existing relationships with influencers or else an ability to build and maintain these relationships
  • An understanding of social analytics monitoring tools to be able capture reach and impact beyond traditional measures
