We are looking for a highly motivated and organised editor, who has an excellent attention to detail and is able to work under pressure. You will play a crucial role in shaping high-quality, engaging books that inspire young minds. You will work closely with authors, designers, and production teams to bring exciting projects to life.
Our ideal candidate will be confident in managing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines. They will be resourceful and solution-focused, being able identify potential issues in projects before they occur. They will be a strong communicator with great interpersonal skills, who is confident in their abilities, but eager to learn and develop.
Other day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Copyediting, proofreading, and fact-checking commissioned text
- Review and edit manuscripts, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and age-appropriateness
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution, providing constructive feedback when necessary.
- Nurture existing relationships with external suppliers, including authors, contributors, consultants, freelance contacts, custom and special sales clients, and with DK overseas teams
As an Editor at DK, you will be someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working with others to achieve shared goals. You will have a clear understanding of the book’s vision and an awareness of the commercial opportunity it presents.
Everyday in the Children’s team is new and exciting, you will have an amazing opportunity to contribute to the children’s book market and to work in a team that encourages creativity and nurtures new editorial talent. Salary: Starting at £31,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
