DK China - Business Development Manager

DK is looking for a Business Development Manager, to be based in their busy Beijing office, to  work alongside a team of publishing professionals focused on growing our China business. Your primary focus will be driving custom publishing sales and developing new business opportunities for DK content within the market. You will be responsible for expanding our business within this market and achieving specific annual sales targets.


Key responsibilities include:

 

 

  • Presenting innovative projects and ideas to potential clients, including publishers, digital content platforms, and other businesses interested in DK content.
  • Working closely with our teams in the UK  and China including Sales, Marketing, Editorial, and Production to deliver customized projects to our clients.
  • Forecasting and exceeding sales targets, actively contributing to our growth strategies in both China and internationally.
  • Conducting market research and building strong relationships with potential clients to gather valuable market insights.


The ideal candidate will:

 

 

  • Possess strong commercial awareness and the ability to create detailed business plans that include turnover, costs, and profitability analysis to support sales budgeting. 
  • Adept at analyzing revenue growth drivers and identifying key opportunities for improvement.
  • Have substantial experience in sales within publishing and content licensing, ideally with experience in the education sector. 
  • A proven track record of expanding market reach and boosting revenue is essential.
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills. 
  • Strong analytical skills are necessary to interpret market data and develop winning strategies.
  • Exceptional time-management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in print production processes and costings, as well as strong project management skills, are important. 
  • You must be fluent in both Chinese and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
