The Bertelsmann Education Group is part of Bertelsmann, Europe’s largest media company, and has the strategic objective to create a global education business generating one billion Euro in revenues. Education is thereby expected to become the third strategic pillar in the Bertelsmann portfolio, next to media and business services.

The implementation of this key component of the Bertelsmann strategy falls under the responsibility of the Bertelsmann Education Group, which concerns itself with the identification, economic and financial analysis, and execution of investments in the education sector, as well as the long-term management of portfolio companies. The group consist of a small team that is located in offices in Berlin and New York City.


We are looking for highly motivated and qualified individuals for our team in New York in order to implement this strategy.


Your responsibilities

You will aid our experienced transaction and integration team with the following tasks:

  • Financial modeling and assessment (DCF, CAPM, Comparables)
  • Financial, legal and commercial due diligence
  • Development of investment proposals for the management and supervisory board of Bertelsmann
  • Market analyses and identification of target companies within the education sector as well as the creation of company profiles
  • Integration planning (post-merger integration)
  • Financing questions and financial analysis for existing portfolio companies


Your profile 

We are looking for exceptional, business oriented students currently enrolled at top-universities, that have successfully completed at least four semesters of their studies and are distinguished by:

  • Excellent academic performance
  • Pronounced analytical abilities and excellent economic knowledge in the areas of mergers & acquisitions, strategy and finance
  • Ideally practical experience within the strategy or finance sector, for example at consulting firms or investment banks
  • Dependability, team orientation, willingness to learn and curiosity as well as social competencies and an independent working style
  • Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Excel modeling skills are preferred
