Indirect Tax Analyst

 

OVERVIEW

This position supports the Indirect Tax function, including sales/use tax, property tax, and other non-income taxes. The primary focus of this position is to provide support for the indirect tax compliance process, including, but not limited to, compliance filing and administrative activities. This position requires a team player who is proactive, highly organized, and can support multiple entities while producing accurate and timely results.


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowledgeable in resale and exemption certificate validation.
  • Conduct Sales and Use Tax research to determine the taxability of various transactions.
  • Handle all correspondence from taxing authorities related to indirect tax compliance with timely responses.
  • Prepare sales and use tax compliance.
  • Assist with documentation of indirect tax compliance policy and procedures.
  • Communicate with business units, as instructed by the manager, regarding indirect tax matters.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for new state registrations.
  • Assist with tax audits as required, including requests for data, preparing schedules, gathering work papers, and other supporting documentation.
  • Assist with indirect tax related ad-hoc projects.
  • Keep informed of current tax developments and effectively apply tax knowledge to business transactions.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other related business field required
  • 3 - 7 years heavy sales tax compliance experience in a multi-state corporation required
  • Proficiency with Vertex Indirect Tax O Series and Vertex Returns a plus
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, v- look ups, etc.) required
  • Experience with Alteryx a plus
