Human Resources Internship

 

Overview

We are looking for a motivated and detailed-oriented Human Resources (HR) Intern to join our dynamic HR & Benefits Team in NY!

 

As an HR intern, you will be exposed to all specialties of HR within Human Resources and gain a strong understanding of HR at a corporate level. You will support HR assignments and projects across a variety of areas, including Payroll, Recruiting, Immigration, and Learning & Development. The internship is designed to run for eight months. If mutually agreed upon, you may have an opportunity to extend this internship, which will be assessed closer to the end of the program.

 

This is a hands-on opportunity to gain meaningful experience while working alongside a collaborative, knowledgeable team of HR professionals.

 

The HR and Benefits Team at Bertelsmann, Inc. is responsible for providing strategic and operational HR support to our New York Office and subsidiary companies in North America. The team supports HR initiatives and functions, including recruiting, onboarding, talent management, and payroll. In addition, the team manages the development, negotiating, customizing, and administration of health, welfare, well-being, and retirement programs.

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Support recruiting activities, such as researching job boards, maintaining the application tracking system and scheduling interviews
  • Contribute to internal audits, document retention, and the collection of internal and external data
  • Assist with payroll processing, including data entries and validating records for accuracy
  • Collaborate with HR Generalists on onboarding and offboarding tasks and documentation
  • Support efforts related to employee engagement and learning & development programs
  • Review, update, and maintain the HR site/portal
  • Provide assistance with HR systems administration, ensuring data accuracy and integrity across platforms
  • Conduct research, analyze findings, and prepare presentations to support strategic HR initiatives
  • Assist with projects related to the employee lifecycle, along with other HR assignments as needed

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in human resource management or related field
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources
  • Ability to commit at least three days per week
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer-service mindset and eagerness to learn
  • Detailed oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, word, and PowerPoint
