Director (f/m/d) Copyright Data Services

Your Mission
This role leads BMG’s global Copyright Data Services through a time-bound transition phase, with responsibility for the accurate, timely, and scalable delivery of copyright data services across all territories. Until full stabilization is achieved, the role combines senior leadership with hands-on operational and technical contribution, particularly focused on backlog reduction, automation, and workflow optimization.
The position is required through 31 December 2026 to complete backlog recovery, stabilize post-migration operations, protect revenue, and support an orderly transition to a smaller steady-state organization.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead Copyright Data Operations: Oversee timely and accurate ingestion of catalog and song data into BMG's Copyright Administration systems. Serve as a senior contact for global BMG offices on song registration, data corrections, and complex catalog issues.
- Drive Service Delivery & Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the global Copyright Data Services team, managing workloads and priorities to meet SLAs during this high-demand period. Foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
- Implement Automation & Optimization: Design, build, and enhance automation solutions to accelerate backlog reduction and increase processing capacity. Identify and eliminate manual bottlenecks and implement practical technical solutions.
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a senior SME for copyright administration processes and systems. Solve complex registration issues, data integrity errors, counterclaims, and disputes.
- Ensure Quality & Protect Revenue: Establish robust quality assurance for song registrations and revenue-relevant data. Collaborate with Income Tracking, Client Services, and Royalty teams to resolve revenue-impacting issues.
- Report & Analyze Performance: Deliver regular reporting on backlog, throughput, automation impact, and SLA performance. Provide data-driven insights for management decisions.
- Drive Stakeholder Collaboration: Lead communication with global BMG offices, adjacent service teams, and IT stakeholders. Organize service calls and provide transparent updates.
- Support Clients & Partners: Engage with copyright clients to resolve complex queries and act as an escalation point for service issues.
What We Are Looking For
- Extensive experience in copyright administration, music publishing operations, or data services.
- Proven leadership experience in global or shared service environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with data processing, data quality management, automation scripting, and workflow optimization.
- Ability to operate effectively in transitional and evolving system landscapes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience supporting system migrations or transformation programs.
